Shrink Sleeve Shrinks Tight for Maximun Protection

TC SL/75 Shrink Sleeve is a conformable wrap around sleeve designed to protect below ground and submerged metal surfaces from corrosion and electrolysis. Protect pipelines, pipe joints, metal tanks and other metal surfaces with this high impact outer polyethylene film and elastomeric adhesive. This easily applied coating is also recommended for use with fusion bonded epoxy, coal tar, extruded polyethylene, three layer systems, and urethane plant coatings.

TC SL/75 is a 75 mil coating consisting of a cross-linked polyethylene jacket with a butyl rubber adhesive, for ambient temperature below grade application. Available in either precut sleeves or by the roll. Apply with the use of a propane torch or other suitable heating device. Appropriate for coating welded pipe joints and reconditioning.

Surface Preparation
Surface must be clean and dry. Wire brush to remove any loose rust and scale, dust or dirt. Oil, grease and all other residue are to be removed from pipe surface. Always preheat the pipe surface to help melt the adhesive, remove moisture from the pipe surface and speed application.

Sleeve Application
Tapecoat SL/75 is applied by removing the release liner and placing one end of the sleeve on top of the pipe. Heat the area that will be overlapped until a bead of melted adhesive is exposed across the entire width of the sleeve as it conforms to the surface. This assures a complete seal at the overlap. Pull the remaining Tapecoat SL/75 around the pipe, overlapping the heated area and the exposed adhesive with the final edge of the sleeve pointing down. Conform the Tapecoat SL/75 by heating in the direction it was pulled around the pipe, finishing at the overlap. Use the torch as an iron to seal any edge curl that may occur. The torch should be moved continuously from the middle toward the sides during sleeve application. Closure strips are available if specified. Sealant is available for large transition areas.
